The medals he earned in World War II were (in order of importance): the Distinguished Service Cross, the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, and the Croix de Guerre. The real medals accrued by Colonel Laughlin hang in a decorative shadow box that is still kept by his widow, Audrey Laughlin.</text>
